UPDATE CORRIEMOLLIE WINDFARM 28 JULY 2016
Attendees: Those present at the LCT AGM
Grant Folley (EDF) explained that work began on the Corriemollie windfarm at the end of 2015 and is continuing.
EDF has allocated £242,000 per year as community funds (the fund will be index linked from year of commissioning). Of this 20% (£49,000) will be centrally managed for education and training. Of the remaining funds 80% (£155,000) will be allocated to the Garve & District Community Council area. These funds and sums are still to be confirmed internally within EDF. The funding is due to commence in June 2017
Following the survey carried out by Foundation Scotland, on behalf of EDF, through community workshops and also meeting with GDCC a report is being finalised for review by GF (EDF). This report will be sent out to those engaged in the project for comment. In relation to Garve the 3 main points are:
- The community would like all funds to be managed by one trust and subject to a review of how the LCT operate the preference was for this to be the existing trust , who would manage 2 funding streams
2. An audit of the LCT rules and articles would be needed if EDF were to choose LCT
3. EDF would maintain an independent review of the funds
The next steps are:
- To arrange a meeting with the new LCT Board in order to discuss how an audit of the fund would work EDF have already sought agreement from Eneco to talk to LCT
- The draft reports to be sent to all those engaged in the project for comment
EDF anticipates that there will need to be revamping of the LCT and if this is the chosen route then EDF would provide appropriate set-up funds to cover legal cost and re-advertising etc.
- Questions were invited from the floor:
Will the fund be made available only to registered charities?
GF: The funds will be made available to all constituted groups. JB explained that this is also true under the current LCT structure
2. Why not move the windmills at night:
GF: EDF are in the hands of Police Scotland and have discussed this with them. They have agreed to move the delivery to 5.30am to get through Garve by 7.30am. Updates of delivery times are available through email and text. Police Scotland are now on site at Corriemollie and this may mean that EDF will be able to get deliveries at non core times
